About Us

Public Education is under fire on the national, local and state levels, and we need to work together to keep it desirable, equitable, and accessible for all of our students and staff.

We are a consortium of engaged and concerned citizens working to hold up these important principles for Douglas County School District.

Our Mission

• Educating the Douglas County community on public education issues that impact our School District

• Encouraging critical thinking about processes and decisions made by the Douglas County School District that affect the long-term sustainability and health of public education

• Empowering members of the Douglas County community to take supportive actions for public education

Our Values

• We believe in Educational equity as a standard in 21st Century public education

• We maintain that vouchers have no place in public education

• We respect teachers as the professionals they are and value their humanity and right to joy and ease

• We support the right of teachers and staff to unionize in order to create opportunities to enhance their professional expertise and advocate for their employment needs.

• We recognize that our students benefit from a variety of educational settings including our neighborhood schools and charter schools

• We consider it our community responsibility to encourage accountability and transparency with the district's Board of Education

• We advocate for increased educational funding for our state and our district. Colorado is in the lowest tier for public education funding.

• Our cause needs different voices and collaborators. We value diversity in our group to represent a variety of lived experiences to enrich our work together.
